Ronald E. Ritchey
November 1, 1929 - January 12, 2017
        

Ronald E. Ritchey was called home to the Lord on January 12, 2017 at the age of 87.

He was preceded in death by his parents Orville & Ellen Ritchey and his beloved wife Barbara of 60 years.

Devoted father of Mary (Patrick)White and William Ritchey(Sandy Braman).  Cherished grandfather of Rachael White and Melissa (Martel) Sias.  He will be missed by 3 great-granddaughters , 1 great-grandson, 1 sister Ruth Ritchey Olivera of New Orleans, LA., 5 nieces ,1 nephew, other family and friends.

During his growing up years, Ron gained a love and appreciation of nature and the outdoors.  He learned the joy of fishing from his father.  In later years, he and Barbara traveled to see the aurora borealis, and to watch whales.  He especially enjoyed walking the Monarch Trail at the Milwaukee County Grounds.

Ronald received his undergraduate degree from Hastings College where he excelled in athletics.  He received the prestigious Bronco Award For his outstanding contribution to student life.

Ron served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War, working as a meteorologist for an extended time in Germany.

Upon his return to the states, he resumed his studies at the Univ. of Nebraska where he received a PhD in Psychology.  He assumed a career as a psychologist with the Veterans Administration in Wisconsin.

He was a lifelong believer in the Lord. Ron enjoyed lively conversations about politics, the weather and football. Ron touched many people with his generous, caring personality. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4 at 12:00PM  at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1100 N.
