Along with his wife Maryanne, he is preceded in death by his parents Max and Margaret Wanner and brothers Joseph and Thomas.

Dave was born in Milwaukee, he was educated at the Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz, WI and ordained a Catholic Priest in 1959 and served the parish communities of Our Lady of Lourdes in Milwaukee, St. Patrick’s parish in Whitewater and St. Thomas Aquinas parish in Kenosha until 1968. He was an MPS substitute school teacher from 1968-1971 and a Studio Art teacher at Lake Forest Academy in Illinois from 1971-1974. In 1974 he moved to Hartland, WI and fulfilled his life’s true passion of creating figurative sculpture. He had a prolific career, creating hundreds of sculptures around the United States and abroad including Pope John XXIII and Fire and Police Academy sculptures as well as others here in Milwaukee until he physically could no longer work. He was a pianist, a life-long theology, G.K. Chesterton and astronomy enthusiast. Universally, he was known as a kind, loving, generous and gentle man.  On behalf of the family, a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff of St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus and Heartland Hospice for their exceptional tenderness in Dave’s most vulnerable time of life.
