Lewandowski, Elaine Lillian

(nee Banaszak) Was born on October 9, 1922. She died peacefully April 16 2014 in the presence of loving family, caregivers and the loving faith filled prayer support of countless other family members and friends. She lived a long and full life that bridged and embraced many generations. Elaine faced life with practicality, faith, the committed labor of her generation. Elaine worked for 16 years as a secretary for Wisconsin State AFL-CIO’s Secretary Treasurer. She had found her passion and dedicated her career life to Labor Unions. It was in this passion of hers that she met her best friend and partner in labor, Arthur Lewandowski. They worked together union organizing and after a time realized that theirs was a permanent enduring friendship and love. Elaine and Arthur were married November 25, 1961. Elaine supported her husband’s work for Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). Their work together took them to the National Headquarters in New York City. Elaine and Arts’ partnership provided them a rich, memorable and rewarding work life. During her career she continued to be supportive of her parents, her extended family and lifelong friends. Elaine is survived by her sister-in-law Dolores (Stephen) Banaszak and cousins, second cousins, numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews and great grandnieces and nephews all of whom she loved and was very proud of.Visitation Friday April 25 from 8:30-9:30 AM at ST. CAMILLUS CHAPEL, 10101 W. Wisconsin Ave. a second visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM at CHRIST KING PARISH, 2604 Swan Blvd. Wauwatosa. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM. Entombment will take place at St. Adalbert Cemetery. Memorials in Elaine and Arthur’s name can be made to the Development Fund of Marquette University would be deeply appreciated.
