Margaret Gregory Winkler "Greg" Reiter
July 8, 1924 - August 15, 2014
        

Born July 8, 1924; died August 15, 2014. Born to Mary McElligott and Richard Lawrence Gregory. Greg is survived by her daughters, Marnie Winkler Frank (Doug), Julie Winkler Petri (Mark), Robin Reiter Whitty Novotny (Chris), Terese Reiter Messman; grandchildren Rorie Petri Rickard, Carrie Petri Gale, Paul Arthur Frank, Megan Whitty Jerabek, Katie Whitty, Patrick Whitty, Jeffrey Messman and Holly Messman, and four great grandchildren. Greg is also survived by her beloved sister Shelia Warren (Henry) and her children and grandchildren. 

Greg was a lifelong resident of Milwaukee, a city she loved, where family and friends filled her life with love and merriment. Her Irish heritage was revealed through her wit and easy laughter, charm, and grace. Her abundant energy and warmth drew friends and family to her until the very end. Greg loved Pi Phi pals from her days at UW. 

Greg married Robert B. Winkler (deceased) in 1948 and had two children, Marnie and Julie. They divorced, and in 1981 she married Harold “Hal” Reiter. They were together until his death in 2002. 

Greg was an active volunteer and supporter of Milwaukee nonprofits. She was the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Woman’s Exchange and Curative Care Network. She was on the Board of Milwaukee Children’s Hospital and the Milwaukee Junior League and a member of the Town Club, Woman’s Club, Collector’s Corner and Green Tree Garden Club. She was involved with Florentine Opera and Skylight Theaters and was a founding member of Stocking Exchange, an investment club which continues 54 years later. Greg worked as a Milwaukee tour guide and tax preparer at H & R Block. She was a worldwide traveler and visited every continent except Antarctica. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 5 at CHRIST CHURCH - EPISCOPAL; 5655 N. Lake Drive in Whitefish Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to charities of the donor’s choice.
