Pauline Haebler "Polly" Van Dyke
October 8, 1933 - August 17, 2014
        

Of Milwaukee. Passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the age of 80 years. Beloved wife of the late William D. Van Dyke III. Loving mother of Kathryn (Douglas Grant) VanDyke, Helen (Brian King) Van Dyke and Ellen (Ansgar) Holtgers. Proud grandmother of William and Emily Grant, Daisey Talbert and Ansgar Holtgers. Dear sister of Ellen Skove and the late Ann Frantz. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

The family will greet friends on Thursday, October 2 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at ST. CHRISTOPHER’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH; 7845 N. River Road in River Hills. Memorial Services will be held at the CHURCH on Friday, October 3 at 3:00 PM. Interment at Forest Home Cemetery will be private. 

In lieu of flowers memorials in Polly’s name should be directed to Columbia-St. Mary’s Hospital, University School of Milwaukee, the Schlitz Audubon Center or the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. 

Polly was born in New Rochelle, New York on October 8, 1933. She graduated in 1951 from the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, New York, attended Connecticut College and graduated in 1955 from Stanford University in Palo Alto CA. 

Polly was very active in the community. She was a member and past director of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, a member and past trustee of the Milwaukee Art Museum, formerly Layton Art Museum, a past trustee of the Columbia Hospital College of Nursing, a past trustee of University School of Milwaukee, a past director of Columbia-St. Mary’s Hospital, a past director of the Schlitz Audubon Center, a member of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and past member of the Board of Directors of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, a past director of Carroll College now Carroll University, a member of the Third Ward Public Market Steering Committee and a member of the Green Tree Garden Club,  the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Boerner Botanical Gardens, 10 Chimney’s and the Milwaukee Public Museum. 

Polly was the recipient of the Margaret Miller award from Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and the Alumni Award from University School of Milwaukee. 

Polly loved spending time with family, traveling, gardening, cooking, playing tennis and reading.
