Kent Martin
October 28, 1941 - September 8, 2014

Martin,  Kent A.  Age 72, beloved husband of Julie Baum, died peacefully on September 8, 2014 with his wife and his sweet cat, Gus, at his side.  Kent will be missed by his stepchildren Scott Baum and Lynne Baum (Antonio Villavicencio) and step-grandchildren Samantha, Lila, Flavio, and Paula Villavicencio.  Son of the late Arthur and Loretta Martin and brother of Jerry Martin.  Further survived by nephews and other relatives and friends.

Kent and Julie both graduated from Washington High School in 1959.  They met again at the 30th high school reunion and became a couple.  Kent was a man of many interests:  traveling, reading, cooking, Nascar and local racing, and the theater, especially Shakespeare.  He attended several plays at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in England.  He enjoyed nature, camping, and bird-watching, as well as socializing with friends.

Kent graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a B.S. and a law degree.  He practiced family law at Hales Corners Law for many years.  At the age of 50 he decided to have a career change, which took him from a hobby to a full-time enterprise as the co-owner of Behling’s Racing Equipment of Butler, Wisconsin.  Later in life, Kent began watercolor painting and won several ribbons in recognition of his artwork.

Kent was greatly appreciative of his health care workers who gently cared for him in recent years.  They are:  Linda Stano, Linda Peckels, Jolyn Mountjoy, Linda Braun, Tammy Klinger and Michelle Jaeger.

Visitation for Kent will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014, at the funeral home, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, followed by a Memorial service at 3:00pm.

Contributions in Kent’s memory to the Milwaukee Repertory Theater or the Sunset Playhouse are appreciated.
