Joseph Charles Martin
February 22, 1959 - September 23, 2014

Of Mequon. Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Susan (nee Westerman). Dearest father of Michelle & Nicholas; Son of Raymond & Marilyn Martin; Twin brother of Michael Martin; Brother-in-law of Ann (Patrick Tiffany) Woodward, Jim and Tom (Katie) Westerman. Uncle of Angela, Eric, Megan, Grace, Paige & Aubrey. Further survived by other relatives and many friends.

Joe was a proud graduate of Homestead High School and Miami University of Ohio. His career in banking spanned over 30 years. He started as a Bank Trainee at the First National Bank of Cincinnati in Ohio, moved back to Wisconsin and started a long career at First Wisconsin National Bank (and ultimately U.S. Bank) holding a variety of executive leadership roles.   Most recently he was affiliated with Bank Mutual.   Joe enjoyed the customer relationships he built and had a passion for managing people.

Joe recently served as president of the Oriole Lane School PTO, was a member of the Mequon Thiensville Ad Hoc Committee and treasurer of his homeowners association.

Joe was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved skiing, golf and basketball, and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and brother.  He coached his son's basketball and baseball teams and served as a baseball umpire.  He was also the longtime manager for his Pinkey's softball team and could be frequently found either attending or commenting on any major or minor sporting event.  Joe also thoroughly enjoyed being on the water in his boat with family and friends.

Most importantly, Joe loved being Michelle and Nicholas' dad. He was committed to teaching them important life  lessons, helping them with homework, and spending time at their school.  His main goal was to ensure that they grew up with a strong role model and loving family.

A service celebrating Joe's life will be held at the funeral home at 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 28. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joseph’s name should be directed to the Mequon Thiensville Education Foundation or the Schlitz Audubon Center.
