Alice L. Bergman

Alice Bergman died peacefully on October 17, 2014 at Shorehaven Health & Rehab Center in Oconomowoc.  Born on September 1, 1916 in Johnson Creek, Wisconsin to Gustav and Frances Trachte, she moved to the Oconomowoc area in the mid-1940s and lived there since then.  Married in 1944 to Abert Bergman, they had one son.  Before her marriage, she worked as a teacher in one-room schools near Oconomowoc.  Later, she served as City Clerk for the City of Oconomowoc for 22 years. She was an active member in the Dr. Martin Luther Church.  She also served on the board of directors of Shorehaven for many years and did volunteer work there for many more.  She was known for her indefatigable energy in all that she did. She was predeceased by her husband Abert, her brother George Trachte, and her sister Frances Trachte Bolger. She is survived by her son Jim and his wife Penny Hommel, and by three grandchildren, Sam, Ben (Betsy), and Andrew (Kim) and great-granddaughter Inara.  A memorial service will be held on November 1st at the Chapel at Shorehaven.  Contributions in Alice’s memory may be made to Shorehaven.
