Patricia Mary "Pat" Garrot
April 9, 1938 - April 28, 2015
        

Pat found eternal peace with God at Epione Pavilion Nursing Home in Cuba City, WI on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.  Long-time resident of  Milwaukee and West Allis. Pat was born in Cassville, WI on April 9, 1938 to the late Chris & Frances (Wiest) Esser.  Pat was married to George Garrot on October 29, 1977 at Gesu Church, Milwaukee, WI.  Pat was a devoted wife and beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt, Godmother, and stepmother who will be missed by many.  Pat is survived by her brother, Chris (Mary Ila) Esser of Cassville, WI; nieces Ann (Harvey) Morley of Cuba City, WI, Patti Wood of Cassville, WI, Lisa (Jeff) Somerville of Hudson, WI, and Beth Esser (Derek Peterson) of Monona, WI; and step-children Barbara (Charles) Dorsey of Northport, AL, Laura (Ken) Kersey of Loudon, TN, Paul (Brenda) Garrot of Richmond, TX, and Robert (Bonnie) Garrot of Fayetteville, GA.  She will be further remembered and missed by great nephews and nieces, step grandchildren, other relatives, friends, and former colleagues and students.  Pat was preceded in death by her husband, George Garrot; parents, Chris & Frances (Wiest) Esser; and nephew-in-law, Dave Wood.   

Pat began her education at St. Charles Catholic Grade School in Cassville, WI.  Pat moved to Milwaukee at the age of 14 and attended St. Joseph’s Convent, graduating in 1955.  She continued her education at Alverno College receiving her BA in 1959 with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Physics.  Pat also attended Marquette University obtaining a Master’s in Education Curriculum in 1969.  She was also a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis from 1952-1976.  Pat began her teaching career at Our Lady of Sorrows School from 1959-1962 and continued at Milwaukee Pius XI High School from 1962-1976.  She finished her 43-year teaching career at Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha, teaching from 1976-2003.  While at Catholic Memorial, Pat was the Math Department Chair for several years and led many teams in WI Math League competitions, earning first place in 1990.  Pat and her husband, George, greatly enjoyed live jazz performances.  Other favorite pastimes included cheering on George’s Pius high school track team and visits with friends and family.  Pat left a lasting impression on the lives of her students, family, and friends. 

Visitation Monday,  May 4 from 4:00pm until time of Parish Vigil at 7:00pm at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue,Wauwatosa.  Friends may also call on Tuesday, May 5 at Gesu Church (12th and Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee) at 10AM until the time of the  Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM with Fr. Ken Herian officiating along with Msgr. Jim Uppena and Fr. Paul Hartmann as concelebrants.  Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee to follow mass.   Friends are invited to join the family for a lunch at Alioto’s Restaurant, 3041 N. Mayfair Rd, Wauwatosa  following the Entombment.  Memorials in her name to Gesu Parish or the Pat Garrot Math and Computer Scholarship at Catholic Memorial High School deeply appreciated.   

The family would like to thank Pat’s caregivers, Sue and Sheila, as well as the staff & her friends at Heritage, Home Care Assistance, Paramedics, Elmbrook Memorial Hospital, Compassionate Care & Grant County Hospice, & Epione Pavilion Nursing Home for their care of Pat.
