August 2, 1939 - June 23, 2015

Jack Charles Widas, at age 75, found peace on June 23, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jack is survived by his wife Janet (Jan) of nearly 50 years and their two children; Eric Anton (Karen) Widas of DePere, WI. Dawn Marie Widas of West Allis, WI. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Erica, Jordan, Lauren, Anton and Harley Rose. He is preceded in death by his parents; Anton (Tony) and Marion; his sister Marion (Widas) Schindler; and her son Mark Schindler.

Jack began his life (August 2, 1939) in Kalamazoo, MI where he developed childhood friendships that bonded for a life time. Stories about their neighborhood pranks, with Jack at the helm, have been told and retold through the years.

Tony, Jacks Dad, instilled in him a work ethic that was manifested in his love of sports. He played football for his high school and was elected to the All-City football team of outstanding players. Attending Western Michigan University, he excelled in football and was in their starting line-up. He enjoyed many sports and always played to WIN....bowling, pool, softball, snowskiing, tennis, and most recently golf. At Wildcat Run Country Club, he acquired many trophies through tournament play. Jack also played softball through age 68; playing in multiple Senior Olympic Games throughout the country.

Jack's parents loved outdoor sports, especially hunting and fishing. At an early age, he was exposed to duck, phearant, and deer hunting. At the age of 15, the family built a hunting cabin in Northern Michigan. The cabin remains in the family and our children have become successful hunters. Our granddaughter, Lauren, has a Cross-Bow and is learning to hunt also.

While in college, he joined the PHI SIG fraternity. He was President of the fraternity, a great group pf guys, who knew how to party.

After college Jack joined the U.S. Army; he was a proud Vet. He elected to be stationed in Alaska, where he had many opportunities to pursue his love of hunting. And once again, he played football while in the army.

On leave, from basic training, Jack visited WMU's campus, where he was introduced to Jan. They married in June 1965. Jack began his professional career while Janet taught high school. Jack has always had a "can do" spirit. His approach to business.... work hard, succeed, be innovative, take action and execute. During 50 years of marriage, we lived in Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Wisconsin, and Florida. Most of his career, he has been a recruiter.

Jack loved life, and family. His laugh and humor will remain with us forever.
