Joe served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII, where he excelled as an airplane mechanic. As a young adult, Joe was an accomplished speed skater and all-around athlete.  Following WWII, he graduated from Marquette University and went on to teach Physics at Boys Tech in Milwaukee and and then Wauwatosa West High School from 1960 until his retirement in 1989.    He was proud of his involvement in the teacher education summer programs at Yale, Ripon, Lake Forest, Princeton, and Oak Ridge, and had the unique opportunity to have taught physics at Banaras Hindu University and Allahabad University in India for two summers during the 1960’s.  Joseph spent his retirement years visiting his children and grandchildren, connecting with cousins in Brazil, and attending daily Mass with his beloved wife, while maintaining his home of 55 years.

Special thanks to Fred and Garnet Ruhland for their compassion and care.
