Albert R. "Bert" Butler
July 22, 1941 - November 23, 2015
        

Albert “Bert” Reed Butler, passed away peacefully with family by his side at his home on Monday, November 23, 2015.  He was born on July 22, 1941, in Connersville, Indiana.  

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Nancy (Klippel) Butler; his daughter, Ashanti (Terence) Ordone; his grandsons, Mason and Carson, his sister, Grayce Shadd, his brothers, Ernest (Heidy), Robert (Judy), and James; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Ernest and Mary Butler, his brother, William, and sisters, Florence and Mary Ann.  Bert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all.

Bert graduated from Noblesville High School before attending Butler University.  Upon graduating from Butler, he taught at Crispus Attucks High School and later became a consultant for The Indianapolis Plan.  He graduated from Indiana University School of law in 1977, and was immediately hired into the Equal Employment Opportunity department at Miller Brewing Company.  He retired as a corporate lawyer, having served Miller Brewing Company for nearly 35 years. 

Bert was an outstanding athlete in high school and college, and was honored for his achievements in football, basketball, and track.  He continued to pursue his love of sports later in life as an avid runner, hiker, cyclist, and fan of many sporting events.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:00 pm, on Friday, December 4, 2015, at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53226.  A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Bert Butler to the Amyloidosis Foundation, at amyloidosis.org, or by including a note indicating Bert’s name, with a check to: Amyloidosis Foundation, 7151 N.
