Francis J. "Joe" David
February 25, 1925 - April 22, 2016
        

Joe David was born February 25, 1925 in Burlington, WI to Frank and Margaret David, and died April 22, 2016 in Mequon, WI. Joe grew up on his parents’ dairy farm. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war, Joe married Mildred Nichols. Joe and Millie were married for 68 years. They settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Joe attended Marquette University and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. 

A successful business owner, Joe began working at American Lace Paper Co. in 1950. He advanced from junior accountant to Vice President when he and two partners bought the company, then it was renamed as American Convenience Products. Following retirement from American, he owned and invested in other businesses and served as manager of Wisconsin Community Capital, which made investments in businesses located in low-income areas. He also donated his time as a consultant to SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. 

Joe and Millie raised their six children in Milwaukee. Together they were active in civil rights and electoral politics in the Milwaukee area. During their retirement years Joe and Millie enjoyed traveling together to many places in the world. 

Joe will be remembered for his intelligence, his diligence, his sense of humor, and his generosity. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Rose and Mary, his brother Bill, and daughter Jeannie. He is survived by his wife, Millie, and children Barb, Susan, Bob, Mary, and John, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

The David Family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Memory Care unit at Newcastle Place in Mequon, and the staff of Horizon Hospice at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital Ozaukee for their kind attention to Joe. 

Visitation  Friday, April 29 from 10:00AM until time of service at 12:00Noon at the funeral home.  Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery, Mequon, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials to the charity of your choice appreciated.
