SCHIMMER, ALOYSIUS PETER “Al” 

Of Brookfield was born to Eternal Life on June 17, 2016, at the age of 77.  Al was born on April 23, 1939, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the son of Albert and Mary Jane (Stranen) Schimmer.  He is survived by his forever friend Anita Weier, brother Wayne Schimmer, uncle Royal Brandt, and cousin Betty (Jerry) Schaff, other relatives, and friends.  Al was preceded in death by his parents, brother John, and aunt Lorraine. 

Al graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a BA Degree, Marquette University with a MA Degree, and pursued doctoral studies in English at Arizona State University.  He taught British Literature, Advanced Placement English, Composition, and other English subjects in the English Department at Hamilton High School, Sussex, Wisconsin. 

Al was a crossword puzzle wizard, an avid reader, a fan of old classic movies, a speaker with eloquent vocabulary tinged with a sense of humor, an opera buff, and a lover of Schnauzer dogs and polar bears. 

Visitation will be held at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 18000 W. Greenfield Avenue, Brookfield, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at 10 AM.  The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Catholic Church, American Heart Association, or Elmbrook Humane Society would be appreciated.
