I was so sad to hear the news of Mike's passing. I have only good memories of him. He was always there to help out at Kathy's school, with any of the many special events and especially with the acquariums that everyone loved- especially the kids. I know that the K4 and K5 teachers and their students loved the visits to Hoffer's pet store.
He will surely be missed by many and remembered by lots of students!

I am saddened by Mike's passing. I first met Mike while I was working for Tetra. We asked him to be on our Retailer Advisory Board. He was one of my favorites. A genuinely nice person who I always enjoyed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

“A paradise our God has promised,
When he’ll blot out all sin and error, Removing death and tears and pain.
A paradise, the earth will be.
Soon here on earth, as God has purposed,
His Son will cause the dead to rise.
Then it will be as Jesus promised:‘You’ll be with me in Paradise.’”

My heartfelt condolences to Mike's family. I went to high school with Mike. I remember his first fish store on Center Street or North Ave. He was a hardworking, good hearted man. He will be missed.

MIKE'S PASSING COMES WITH GREAT SADNESS. WE SERVED TOGETHER ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE WORLD PET ASSOCIATION. AND I RESPECTED BOTH HIS OPINION AND JUDGEMENT
MIKE AND I SHARED THE SAME BIRTHDAY (ALBEIT 6 YEARS DIFFERENT) AND THE LOVE OF ANIMALS AND PETS. BY THIS SHARED TRAIT WE WERE TRULY BROTHERS WHICH ONLY DEEPENS THE VOID CREATED BY HIS PASSING.

We have known Mike for many years now. He is a friend of my sons Mark and Andy. When our grandson competed in an aquarium design contest, Mike let him pick out some fish and other supplies. Kaleb was thrilled! He really loved visiting Hoffers Tropic Life and seeing all the different animals, especially the fish and reptiles. We know Mike to be a generous, kind, wonderful man who loved life and gave it his all. He will be sorely missed around this town and by a lot of people! Rest in peace, Mike1

I am heartbroken. Mike was one of the kindest, nicest and most caring people I have ever met. It was an absolute privilege to have been able to know Mike as a co- board member, a customer and most importantly, a friend.

Mike was always happy , no matter the circumstance. His mere presence made you smile and he always was more interested in others than himself.

Mike was one of those rare people that made everyone he came in contact with feel better about themselves. It was because he truly cared and saw the good in everyone.

I alway looked forward to going to Milwaukee, because I knew I would get to see and talk with Mike. Talking with Mike was like talking with your best friend, or a family member. He was the kindest person I have ever known.

We are all better people because of the time we were so lucky to spend with Mike.

I am sure that he is now riding the ultimate Harley in Heaven and we can all see the smile and smile back.

I will greatly miss Mike and my thoughts and prayers are with his family and extended family, of which I am so happy to have been included.

Rest in Peace my friend.
