To Fred's family,
I'm so sorry to learn of his passing. I had Mr. Ebling for 8th grade math at Thomas Jefferson and even at that young age I recognized that he was a special teacher. He didn't just teach me math... he got me interested in math. His style was something that I had not encountered before... he somehow made math fun. This was when I first realized the everyday, real-life usefulness of math. His gift of math has served me well throughout my school years and adult life. I also recall him getting in a bit of trouble when an uptight parent complained about him having us roll dice in our statistics unit... :)
Years later it was always nice to have a brief chat with him at Otto's.
I learned of his passing when I received a text from a classmate that said: "Fred Ebling died. I liked him."
A little later that day, I had to smile when a co-worker asked me to check their math... which I did with confidence... Thanks Mr. Ebling!
RIP sir...

Candy, Scott and the Ebling Family: I am so very sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I had the honor of meeting Fred at your wedding in Milwaukee. What a great guy and fantastic sports fan too! Sending my prayers and thoughts in these difficult days and weeks ahead. May God welcome Fred into paradise and where he is reunited with your mother!

I guess I knew Fred ever since he used to visit my Brother Bob at our house on Locust Street in Milwaukee. He was always cheerful and friendly. Later Terry Hoeppner and I would meet him at Brewer games and he would let us sit behind Home Plate in the Box Seats even though we had bleacher tickets. I will remember him as a friend and a gentleman.
