Doctor Sandage,

Thank you for always believing in me, even when I didn't believe in myself. I am not sure I would have made it through medical school without your mentorship. I am so grateful that we spent time together during my hooding, and that I was able to hear some of your incredible stories and adventures. I aspire to be even just a fraction of the amazing psychiatrist and human that you were. One of the last things you said to me is, "The world can be a magical place, sometimes." It really can be, but some of that magic left when you did. You are so deeply missed.

Thanks Scott for being such a great colleague and friend here at work. It says a lot that I always enjoyed speaking with you given that the situations we spoke about were so challenging. Your focus was always on your patients and what you could do to help and that made everything worthwhile. I'm sorry we won't be talking for a while, but I know you're in a safe and happy place. Thank you again for all you did and for all the people you helped.

Scott,
You were truly a bright light when I worked across the hall from you at Children’s Wisconsin. Your love for your daughter and your patients was apparent every time we talked. I will miss you and will always be thankful for the kindness you showed me in some of my darkest times. Rest in peace my friend.
