We will always remember Morie’s oh so full head of hair and his big smile. Our families go back so far we “kids” though we don’t really recall how Patti’s parents and your dad and mom met, our large families were friends starting way back with boating days - remember our family’s Wisconsin Dells trip with the boats? How did all those kids spend so much time in the boats on the river and lakes, raking turns with some kids swapping to each other’s family;s boat because the other one had better snacks?, whether waterskiing or just boat rides they were great times. I think your dad is the only one I knew who tried barefoot skiing! Then as we got older, Bill was introduced to Morie either at dad’s Texaco station where Bill went to work after his service in the Navy, or possibly in dad’s workshop garage at the house where my dad any Morie and several other car guys spent a lot of time. Then we moved to Florida but our parents continued to visit each other, even taking road trips together … including driving…yes driving to Alaska. Your parents would camp their way to Florida, spend a couple weeks in the area and we always were invited to visit with your parents while they were in the area. Eventually even our kids got to know Morie and Delores as grandpa’s friends and would ask what they had been up to. So many great memories over the years that would be rehashed/brought up during visits … “remember when” one did this or that, and the stories we heard from them about the crazy things they did in their younger days … but, all those memories of so many life experiences kept them young at heart. Morie was the last of the “group” of rebel rousers as they used to call themselves. When my phone came up with Gerilynn’s name, I picked up my phone, turned it towards Bill so he could see who was calling and we both said “Oh-oh” we knew what the call was going to be about. Out for with fish fry with son Friday we toasted one of the greats, Morie. So many memories we have forever

So sorry that we're saying good bye. It was an honor to know you. Your stories about your trips were so interesting and usually made us laugh. I know that you will be welcomed in heaven. Your wife will be so happy to hug you and have you close again.

Always friendly and approachable "way back when" I was just a kid. Always treated people with respect and helped where he could. It has been a joy to know Mr. Wirt (will always be "Mr. Wirt" to me). (I would attend the visitation but I have a previously scheduled engagement) Rest in peace!!
