When I first met Judie, she was warm and welcoming. She told me how wonderful the children were in Brown Deer, while also warning me that they could sometimes be a little naughty! We taught third grade together, and before long, our friendship became something very special.
At the end of each day, we would stop to talk about how our day had gone. Sometimes I would be in her classroom, and other times she would be in mine. We shared stories, laughed, talked about the kids, and helped each other through the good days and the challenging ones.
We also took cooking lessons together with a group of teachers at the Italian Community Center for five years—twice a year. Eventually, those cooking lessons turned into dinner parties at each other’s homes. The funny part was that Judie really didn't like to cook! But she sure could make a wonderful dessert, and somehow that was just fine with all of us.
Judie was my very dear friend and confidant. She was always up for some fun. After conferences or a particularly tough day at school, we would sometimes go out for a few “liquid refreshments” and unwind. Those are the memories that make me smile now.
The five of us teachers worked so well together. We all got along, supported one another, and became a special team. Over the years, we have lost four of the original team, but as new friends came aboard, somehow it always worked out beautifully. I feel very fortunate to have been part of that group and, most of all, to have had Judie by my side for so many years.
I will miss you, my dear friend—your warmth, your friendship, your laughter, and all the wonderful memories we made together.
I know you will always be with me in my heart.
Enjoy singing with the angels, Judie. Until we meet again.

To our dearest Bob, Ben, Katy, extended family and friends.
We are deeply saddened to hear Judie has passed away.
We will forever hold close to our hearts the week spent with you both in Brown Deer, July 2018. Such fun times, from visiting Wisconsin Dells, drinks on your deck. So many happy memories.
