Phillip A. Datka
August 4, 1945 - December 30, 2014
Mercy. just now seeing this. What a great man. He was a great friend to me. He went out of his way to protect me.I moved away from Wisc over 30 yrs ago. But this friend found a way to stay connected on what I was doing in my life. Iam not sure how and where he had gotten his updates on me. But from time to time he would let me know he knew what was going on in my world. I have the upmost respect and love for Coach. I hope everyone is as lucky as I am for having such a wonderful guardian to watch over me. He never let you forget he was there for you. He never forgot me. I would make surprise visit up home, and he still had my graduation picture hanging on the wall in his office. I know GOD is truly please with all that he accomplished on earth, and sure to have proud and mighty good works for him in heaven. Sorry for his family to have lost him way to young. I fell your loss. May peace find its way to you. For all of the Datka Family thanks for sharing such a great person with all of germantow. We Love him as much as you do. We feel your loss and pain. May GOD comfort you on the days its seems to hard to get through. May the great memories flood your hearts and his hearty laughter fill your ears. Class of 79

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Datka family on this tragic loss of an outstanding man & coach. Coach Datka was a major influence on my life and me being successful. He pushed me to go to college and be a student-athlete. Then my career choice as a educator. Coach Datka will be missed by a lot of people and especially Germantown! Rest in peace because you deserve it.

My dad attended Don Bosco with Mr. Datka and when my parents moved to Cedarburg, the two kept in touch through football. My condolences on your loss - he was a great man.

Phil was a great administrator and coach. He changed boys into men and led by example. He embraced the kids who needed a father figure. We will never know how many lives he touched. Here's a quote that I believe fits the quality and character of his life: "Do more than belong: participate. Do more than care: help. Do more than believe: practice. Do more than be fair: be kind. Do more than forgive: forget. Do more than dream: work.”
