Warren S. Musaus
July 11, 1920 - May 23, 2017
        

Warren Salthe Musaus, Age 96, passed away May 23, 2017. He was a resident of Luther Manor in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his three children: Mark Musaus (Linda) of Buford, GA, Rev. Meredith Bedker Musaus (Paul Bedker) of Menomonee Falls, WI and John Musaus (Mary) of Raleigh, NC. He leaves behind four grandchildren: Lauren Lundberg, Meggan Nave, Melody Musaus and Madeline Musaus and three great grandchildren Hannah Lundberg, Isaac Lundberg, and Carter Nave.

Warren was born and raised in Brooklyn and a graduate of New York University. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. During World War II, he served as a Technical Sergeant with the 101st Airborne Glider Division as a signal operator communications specialist and military liaison. He saw combat action on the European front including the D-Day invasion of Normandy, the Battles of Carentan and Cherbourg, Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands, and the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne. He received several military medals and awards from the United States, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. At the age of 96 he was recognized by the French government with the Knight of the Legion of Honor Medal. He also was presented the Lance P. Sijan award in 2016.

Following military service, Warren worked for Texaco, Inc. for 44 years which included living in Venezuela for six years. During his tenure he had management responsibilities throughout Central and South America and West Africa.

While he belonged to many organizations, his greatest satisfaction was serving on committees and church councils of congregations where he was a member. He belonged to Lutheran churches in Brooklyn, NY; Staten Island, NY; Caracas, Venezuela; Woodcliff Lake, NJ; Miami, FL; Ocala, FL and Menomonee Falls, WI.

Warren had a servant heart and lived a life of generosity, gratitude and thankfulness.

Warren was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Lillian Johnsen, his parents John Nils Musaus and Alma (Salthe) Musaus; by sisters and brothers-in-laws Elva (Ed) duBois and Dorothy (Richard) Evenson. He is further survived by cousins, God-children, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 17th at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, W156 N8131 Pilgrim Rd., Menomonee Falls from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. celebration of life service. Inurnment at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam, WI.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in his honor to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Menomonee Falls, WI.
