Charles H. Knoebel
August 30, 1925 - June 21, 2017

Joined his childhood sweetheart, the late Verna (nee Johnson), on June 21, 2017. A lifelong Menomonee Falls resident, Charlie married the girl next door and raised three children—the late Susan, Sally (Michael) Lochmann and Steven (Lisa) Knoebel.

The middle child of eleven children of the late Herbert and Catherine (nee Walter), he grew up on an area dairy farm.

As a teen, Charlie proudly served in WWII where he earned the Soldier’s Medal for Bravery. He worked for the old Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company for 35 years.  For over 60 years, he was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Menomonee Falls.

Charlie was a dedicated father, a proud grandfather to Jessie (Jason) Allen, Julie (Corey) Bauer, Zachery (Bess) Knoebel and Nicholas Knoebel, and an adored Papa Charlie to JJ, Jett and Jonah Allen and Jack and Elle Bauer.

He is survived by his brother Daniel (Carol) Knoebel, sisters Monica Johnson and Joyce (Gil) Carlson; sisters-in-laws Joan Knoebel and Alice Johnson and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by daughter Susan and wife Verna; siblings Herbert, Paul, Elizabeth, Miriam, Tom, Barbara and David; brother-in-laws Bill Johnson, Al Gobis, Paul Gobster, and Alvin and Myron Johnson; and sister-in-laws Elenor and Marion Knoebel and Frances Johnson.

The family thanks Lindsay and Ron and the caring staff of Virginia Highlands for their compassionate care of Dad.
