Joan E. Bohn
March 19, 1931 - August 13, 2017
        

Joan (Langer) (Martell) Bohn of Oconomowoc died peacefully on August 13, 2017. Joan was the daughter of Richard C Langer and Frances (Micheln) Langer. She was born in Kenosha on March 19, 1931 and attended St. George School and Bradford High School.  While in Kenosha, she had fond memories of being a camp counselor at Potawatomi Hills and worked at Nash Motors and at St. Mary’s. From there she went on to attend attended Dominican College in Racine. 

In July 1953, she married David Martell after which she graduated with honors from City College in Chicago. Joan was a primary teacher for 25 years and enjoyed her students at Kettle Moraine in Wales, WI, Knickerbocker in Chicago, Greenbriar in Arlington Heights, IL and Glenn Stephens in Madison, WI.

Joan and her second husband Richard Bohn owned Monona and Broadway Bait and Tackle in Madison and Fishing Concepts, a tackle manufacturing company. Joany loved having lived in seven lake homes throughout her life, two on Lower Namahbin, upper Namahbin, Lake Kegonsa, Big Lake, Lake DuBay, and Lake Monona.  Joan loved fishing, ice skating, canoeing, rowing, pontooning, sailing, snowmobiling, swimming, Packer Games and above all reading.  Joan believed strongly in the importance of a free public education through college.

Survivors include her daughter Lauren (Richard) Martell Vertz, two grandchildren Nicole (Marco) Rodriguez, Paula (Jacob) Kummrow, four great-grandchildren, cherished nieces and nephews and brother-in-law Marlin Reutz. She is predeceased by David Martell, Richard Bohn and her much missed sisters and brother-in-law, Jean (Albert) Boehme and Mary Ruetz . Her burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 2705 Regent St, Madison.
