Bridget P. Shanahan-Otero
April 20, 1956 - August 17, 2017

Of Mequon. Our beloved mother, wife, sister, and a dear friend to many passed away on August 17, 2017 after a long battle with cancer at the age of 61 years.

Her greatest joy was raising five strong and independent children, Kelsey, Megan, Patrick, Tess, and Quinn Otero, alongside her loving husband and partner Mel Otero. Also surviving are her siblings John (Lydia) Shanahan, Mary Kay (Brent) Blundell, Colleen (Bill) Higgins and countless nieces and nephews.

Born in Green Bay, WI to John and Kathryn Shanahan, Bridget always knew she wanted to be a teacher. We are pleased to say that she educated generations of students and deeply embedded a sense of play and curiosity in the classroom. She loved to travel, cook, and drink good wine. She cherished her time in Door County, sitting on the dock, with her entire family.

We would like to thank Dr. Parameswaran Hari and the medical staff at Froedtert Hospital for their dedicated care. She viewed them as friends as well as an integral part of her team for the past 11-and-a-half years.

Visitation Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 10:00AM until 11:45AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00Noon at LUMEN CHRISTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2750 W. Mequon Rd. Private family interment. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in Bridget Shanahan-Otero’s name to continue Multiple Myeloma research. Memorials can be sent to the Medical College of Wisconsin, and directed to Myeloma research in the Division of Hematology and Oncology.
