Leona Doubek
June 12, 1918 - November 19, 2017
        

Leona (Nee Segebarth) Doubek of Menomonee Falls, formerly of East Troy, was born to eternal life on November 19, 2017 at the age of 99.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Franklin F. Doubek and her loving sister Vennice A. Segebarth, her parents Louis and Alma (Schlee) Segebarth, an infant brother Harold, Brother-in-law Eugene Doubek and his wife Eugenia, sister-in-law Edith Armstrong and her husband Gaylord.  She is survived by a special nephew Jeff Doubek, her dear friends Keith and Diane Pollek, and grand nieces and nephews.

She was born in 1918 in Milwaukee and was a graduate of Wauwatosa High School.  After attending Milwaukee State Teachers College for two years, she began her 44 year career in education, starting as a teacher in a one room rural school in Walworth County.  She continued her education to receive her Bachelors’ and Master’s Degrees in Elementary Education and Administration at UW-Milwaukee.  She taught at Hillside and Okauchee Schools in Waukesha County and Honey Creek and Troy Center School in Walworth County before joining the staff at the East Troy Elementary School.  After teaching there seven years, she served as principal for 22 years, she then retired in 1984.  In 1999 the school was renamed in her honor.

She was a member of the Women’s Club of East Troy where she was a past-president, Friends of the East Troy Library, Pi Lambda Theta, Epsilon Chapter, Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, National Association of Elementary School Principals and Walworth County Area Retired Educators Association.

Leona was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Troy where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir director and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lannon.

Visitation will be held Saturday November 25, 2017 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20813 Forest View Dr., Lannon, from 12:30 p.m until time of service at 1:30 p.m. Private burial at Arlington Park Cemetery, Milwaukee.
