Toska E. Quinnies

QUINNIES, Toska Elvira Adelheid (APITZ), age 84, passed peacefully Wednesday morning June 20, 2018 at Horizon Hospice, Mequon Wisconsin. Born November 4, 1933 in Berlin Germany. Graduate of the Berliner Berufsschuler in accounting and business studies, Berlin, Germany. Emigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1954.

A dedicated mother, volunteer, leader and business owner, Toska proudly served in many volunteer capacities including Boy Scouts, Indian Guides, Trail Blazers, Fox Point-Bayside PTA.

Worked in the Fox-Point Bayside schools as both volunteer and librarian, nurse’s aide and playground supervisor. A lover of the arts, she helped co-found the Fox Point-Bayside (WI) Patriots Drum and Bugle Corps, served at various charity events with the Milwaukee Florentine Opera, United Way, United Performing Arts Council, Channel 10 PBS Telethon.

With her beloved husband Barry, she was a lifelong explorer and conservationist, she traveled the world many times with family and friends exploring new cultures, supporting many conservation clubs such as Safari Club International, the Door County Land Trust, Milwaukee and Naples Zoos. Avid golfer and Wisconsin sports fan, Milwaukee Curling Club member for 22 years. A charitable giver, she supported many organizations such as the Wounded Warriors, VA, culinary arts, Youth Haven, Habitat for Humanity, Naples Hospice.

As a business owner she supported the Grafton Chamber of Commerce and other local service organizations. In retirement Toska was an avid golfer, enjoyed bridge and keeping in touch with her loving family and many dear and lifelong friends in Milwaukee, Naples and around the world. A lifelong practicing Lutheran and godmother, she worshiped and served the Lord in congregations in Fox Point and Baileys Harbor (WI) and Naples (FL).

Toska is predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Barry. Survived by sons Kenneth (Diane), Ricky (Sheila), Gavin (Geneva) and Craig (Patricia), Grandchildren Kayla (Patrick), Natalie (Brett) Lauren (Spencer), Lindsey, Erica, Spencer (Dani), John, and Barry. Also predeceased by mother Toska and father Karl, sister Waltraud. She is further survived by her loving brother Knut (Ursula) Apitz, Sister in Law Holly (Robert) Werner, nephews Preston (Sue) and Christopher, nieces Bethany (Leo) and Kim. Godmother to nieces Tosca (Bruce) and Constance (Butch), along with many loving family members.

Toska will be most remembered for her steadfast love, generosity and support of her family, her can do approach to life and dedication to her countless friends and the many lives she touched. The family is most grateful to the caregivers at Avow and Horizon Hospice for their kindness and tender support.

Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
