Gerald R. Stansfield

Born October 30, 1922. Died July 24, 2020. He is survived by daughter Carolyn (Thomas) Casey of Jackson, Wisconsin, son Thomas E. Stansfield of Richardson, Texas, 4 grandchildren, Amy Mangan-Fischer (Don) of Jackson, Wisconsin, Laura Adlington (Ryan) of Mobile, Alabama, Thomas Wilson Stansfield of Richardson Texas, Susan Ann Stansfield (Hayden Wilson) of Richardson, Texas, 5 great-grandchildren: Jonah Fischer, Ella Fischer, Ryleigh Adlington, Raegan Adlington and Keagan Wilson. Further survived by other relatives and friends. 

Gerald was born in Laurel, Maryland to George Rudisill and Emma Marie Stansfield on October 30, 1922. He graduated from Laurel High School and attended the University of Maryland. On January 9, 1943 Gerald joined the United States Army at Ellicott City, Maryland Court House then reported to Ft. Meade, Maryland. He completed US Army Bomb Reconnaissance School in October, 1944 in Sarasota, Florida. He married Mildred Louise Eichelberger from Frederick Maryland at Greensboro, North Carolina. Gerald attended basic training at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis, Missouri in which he was later assigned to the Army Air Force and deployed to San Francisco, California. He was shipped to Assam Valley, India with a rank of Staff Sargent and worked out of the Air Command Headquarters. On April 26, 1946 he was separated from the service and then returned to Laurel, Maryland. He and Milly purchased their first house at 504 Fairlawn Avenue in Laurel, Maryland. On April 20, 1949 they were blessed with their first child, a son, Thomas Edward Stansfield. Then on June 19, 1952 they were blessed with their second child, a daughter, Carolyn Louise Stansfield.

Jerry worked for Retailers Commercial Agency in Washington, DC and in May, 1954 he transferred to Retail Credit Company, in Chicago, Illinois. He and Milly purchased a home in Wheaton, Illinois. Jerry was very active in his community having coached Little League Baseball from 1958-1961 and attended Faith Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. In March, 1989 Mildred passed away. In 1991 Jerry moved to Tampa, Florida with 2nd wife, Wanda. Following Wanda’s death in 2010, Jerry moved to Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Jerry was an avid Packer and Brewer fan, as well as following the Golf tours.

Services for Jerry will be held in Maryland.
