Robert Patrick Kraus passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in his home in Mukwonago, WI. He was 74 years old at the time of his death.
A respected and long-standing member of the Mukwonago community, Kraus worked as the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds for the Mukwonago Area School District beginning in 1984, up until his retirement in 2011. Since his retirement, he has given his time as a volunteer to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Troy, WI, as well as driving for the Seniors On The Go Taxi Program in Mukwonago. He previously spent nearly ten years as an employee at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Robert Patrick is survived by his loving wife / high school sweetheart Mary (Fries) Kraus. Cherished and devoted father to Robert L. (Jennifer) Kraus and Kathleen Marie Kraus. Proud grandfather to D.J. Kraus and Brady Patrick Kraus. Loving sibling to James Jr. (Dixie) Kraus, Margaret (Bill) Loughman, Richard (Carol) Kraus, William (Karen) Kraus, Carol Johnson, Lin (Rob) De La Mare, Marlene Garcia, and Larry (Linda) Kraus. Dedicated brother-in-law to Ruth (Fries) Gilkey and her beloved children. Preceded in death by parents James and Margaret (Voitik) Kraus, brother Michael Kraus, and brother-in-law Richard Johnson. He will be deeply missed by other family and friends, including those he worked with for years throughout the Wisconsin school system and the communities of Mukwonago and East Troy.
A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 17 at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Mukwonago from 9am to 11am. Burial mass to be held at noon at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Troy. Casual luncheon to follow at The Venue in East Troy. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone will be required to wear a face mask at the funeral home and at the church for the safety of the family and all who will be attending. Thank You.
