Tom Rauen, 83, passed away on January 16, 2021. Tom is survived by his wife Carol, his children Susie Syvock, Cathy (Larry) Kaplan, Peggy (Rich) Beckmann, Mike (Stacy) Rauen, and his beloved grandchildren Ben, Zach, and Maya. He is also survived by his brother Jerome (Gert) and very special nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Theresa, his brother Bob, his sister Mary Lois, and his niece Terry Perry.

Tom was a 1955 graduate of Messmer High School. He then served in the army for 2 years, 1 month, and 3 days as Tom would say. He worked for his father building many houses in Milwaukee before joining the City of Milwaukee Building Inspection department for 30 years until his retirement.

He was a tireless volunteer and warrior for causes close to his heart. He volunteered countless hours for Holy Redeemer Catholic church and school, the Fred Miller Council Knights of Columbus, and Messmer High School. His efforts as a member of the “Save Messmer Committee” helped keep Messmer alive.

Tom was a jokester until his last days. He loved to keep people smiling especially when the jokes were corny.

He was loved deeply and he will be missed every day.

A special thank you to the caregivers from Home Instead and the nurses and doctors at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton.

A Visitation will be held for Tom on Saturday May 15th 2021 at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church (7142 N.41st  Street, Good Hope and 41st) from 10:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Messmer Catholic Schools or The House of Peace in Tom’s memory are appreciated.
