Joseph S. Witherow III
August 11, 1943 - June 4, 2021
        

Joseph  (Joe) Witherow III of Milwaukee, Wisconsin passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, June 4th, 2021 at the age of 77.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Peggy (nee Mathison) and their four children, Meagan (Brandon) Sliga, Courtney (Jesse) Peterson, Joseph IV and Collin (Alyssa) Witherow, and 6 grandchildren Charlie, Jacob, Max, Joseph, Stella and Finn.  He is also survived by his sister Ann Witherow and sister-in-law Patricia Witherow from New York.  He dearly loved Peggy’s five sisters and brother, and his many nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Jr and Dorothy (nee Vachris) Witherow, and his brothers Charles and Thomas Witherow.

Joseph was born Aug 11th 1943 in Brooklyn, NY to Dorothy and Joseph Witherow Jr. He moved to Milwaukee in 1960 to attended Marquette University.   He loved all things Marquette and was very proud of his alma mater.  In 1975 Joe married Peggy in Milwaukee, WI and together they had four children, who were the light of his life and now 6 grandchildren whom he cherished and loved.

Joe loved his family and his community, he spent countless years volunteering for his parish, running the church festival and helping with bingo.  Joe was very social and known by many around the Milwaukee area.  His mantra in life was “I never met a person I couldn’t talk to or didn’t like”.  He truly had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Vincent Pallotti West, 201 N. 76th St. on June 25th, with Visitation from 9-11am with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given in his honor to the MACC Fund or St Jude’s.
