Norman Francis Schardt
January 5, 1937 - July 23, 2021
        

Passed away on July 23, 2021 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at the age of 84.

Norman was born in Cuba City, Wisconsin to Lawrence Wilbert and Margaret Catherine (Helbing) Schardt on January 5th, 1937. Norman grew up in Shullsburg, Wisconsin and graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1955. After high school he attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Mount Calvary, Wisconsin.

After graduating from the seminary, Norman entered the novitiate of the Capuchin Order in 1957. After his novitiate in 1958, he resided three years in Indiana to pursue philosophical studies, first in Huntington and then finishing up in Crown Point. Over the next five years until 1965, he lived in Marathon, Wisconsin where he was engaged in theological studies at St. Anthony Friary. On September 1, 1964 he made his solemn profession at the Capuchin Seminary of St. Anthony and took the name Father Jordan.

After his life in the Capuchin Order, he was married to Mary Jane Burke on August 15th, 1970 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They resided most of their life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Norman worked for many years at Catholic Family Life Insurance (now Catholic Financial Life) in Milwaukee as an Agency Coordinator. In 2004, they moved to Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin and resided there ever since. They had four children and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary just last year.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, four of his brothers, Gerald, Lloyd, Eldon, and Lyle, and sister Elvera.

Norman is survived by his wife Mary and four children including three daughters Anita (Greg) Hoffman of Menomonee Falls, Brenda (Dan) Vidmar of Menomonee Falls, Susan (Jose) Reyes of Sacramento, California and a son Keith (Maureen) Schardt of Menomonee Falls. Eight grandchildren – Olivia, Benjamin, Joseph, Jianna, Andres, Keilan, Regan, and Quinlan. Two brothers Ronald (Shirley) and Robert (Darlene) and one sister Mary (James) Lee. Two sisters-in-law Jerri Lou and Donna Schardt.

Norman was an avid gardener, loved walking and spending time with his family and friends. He had a tremendously gentle heart and always took the time to find kind words to say to others. He was an active member of his church, Good Shepherd in Menomonee Falls. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Community Memorial Hospital and Froedtert Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at Good Shepherd Church, N88W17658 Christman Rd, WI 53051 in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin on Wednesday, August 4th. Visitation will begin at 10am, service will begin at noon.
