May 26, 1950 - November 16, 2021

Michael D. Wilhelm passed away at home on November 16, 2021, at the age of 71 years after a brief battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Francis and Amelia Wilhelm.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Joanne (nee Zunk) and his four children who were his pride and joy, Michael (Janelle), Joel (Marie), Jocelyn, and Jerilyn (Ken).

He will be missed by his cherished granddaughters Mia and Olivia Wilhelm. He is further survived by his dear sister Karen (Don) Coe, brother Patrick, and other relatives and friends.

Mike grew up in West Allis, went to St. Aloysius grade school, graduated from West Allis Central High School, and attended MATC.

Jo and Mike met at Jo’s cousin’s wedding. Mike was friends with the bride and groom and was unattached at the time. They dated for almost a year when Mike proposed and married after a 15-month engagement. They spent most of their married life in Menomonee Falls.

Mike was a machinist for most of his working career and was a very loyal employee wherever he worked, first at Milwaukee Valve and retiring from Grede in Menomonee Falls.

Mike thoroughly enjoyed his granddaughters, his computers, and photography. He was also interested in genealogy and astronomy. Sudoku was his puzzle of choice. His favorite sport was NASCAR. “Tall Mike” had many friends at his favorite establishment.

On Tuesday November 30, visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with a Memorial Mass at 10:00 AM at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, N88 W17658 Christman Road, Menomonee Falls. Masks are required in the church building.
