Of Menomonee Falls, on Saturday, September 24, 2022, our beloved Jan Gravenkamp, husband of 62 years to Karen (Wangerin), Father to Lisa (Jim) McCombe, Eric (Kelley) and Kim (Patrick) Klenk; Brother to Dave (Susan) Gravenkamp; Grandfather to Jacob, Spencer, Caitlin, Kylie, Lily and Ivy, heard our Lord’s call and joined our Savior in heaven. Jan’s life, full of devotion, compassion and grace, will leave us with the burdens of sorrow. Jan was always delighted with our collective groans when hearing the punchline of his Jan-jokes. He was a great servant leader in his community, a storyteller at heart, a mentor to many and great friend to all. He will be sorely missed. His tremendous faith in Jesus was blessed with an exemplary life. With God’s grace in his heart, Jan generously passed those blessings to everyone he knew. He was born on February 28th, 1936 in Elwood, Nebraska. Growing up in the great state of Iowa, Jan would only show glimpses of ire when Iowa State lost a game, but always responded with “we’ll get um next year.” Above all else, Jan’s commitment to his family, his church, the City of Milwaukee Public Works, was as devoted as his faith to God. All would agree as it is written in John 10:10b: “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”

The visitation for Jan will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 12:30PM until the time of the 2:30PM funeral service at Emmanuel Community United Methodist Church, N84 W16707 Menomonee Ave., Menomonee Falls, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church are appreciated.
