Roger A. Schankey
May 21, 1937 - November 13, 2020

Roger Alan Schankey went home to God on Nov 13, 2020 at age 83.

Roger was born to Charles and Albertine Schankey on May 21, 1937 in Black River Falls, Wisconsin. He was raised on a farm in Black River Falls, then moved to Mukwonago in 1956.

Roger met his wife, Delorez “Sue” Orth in 1957, when Sue hired Roger’s brother, Merlin to fix her typewriter.  They married on June 8, 1958 and went on to raise six children, Beth, Colleen, Tammy, Shelly, Becky and Robert.     Roger was active in the community, volunteering for Mukwonago Police Reserve.  In 1972, Roger took over his father’s business, Schankey Steel Service and traveled Wisconsin selling steel products. During the Christmas season, he sold Christmas trees to the community on Green Acres Drive.

In addition to being a dedicated and loving father, Roger was an active member at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was instrumental with the purchase of the Church land.   Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry and Albertine Sylvia Schankey, his brother, Vernon Schankey, and grandson, Jason Zabielski.  He is survived by his wife, Delorez “Sue” Lauree Schankey, his brother Merlin Schankey and sister Carol Loppnow, his children Elizabeth (Herman) Menning, Colleen Gallagher, Tammy (Jeffrey) Zabielski, Michelle VanderSchaegen, Rebecca (William) Stanton and Robert(Laurie) Schankey, his  grandchildren, Paul (Stacie) Menning, Lisa (Tim) Eggleston , Derrick (Amanda) Parent, Maria Myers, Cassandra Zabielski, Cortney (Branden) Bande , Charles VanderSchaegen (Kayla Henschel), Joszef Schankey, Amborlin Schankey, Zackorie Schankey, Dakota Stanton and Baylor Stanton, his  great grandchildren, Alex Huth, Katie (Eric) Malicki, Sophia Menning, Phil Menning, Sammy Menning, Alexis Myers,  Jessie Hernandez,  Aiden Parent, Landon Parent and Daxtyn Schankey and great-great grandchildren, Beau Malicki and Piper Malicki.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17 at St. John's EV. Lutheran Church (410 W. Veteran's Way  Mukwonago) from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Mukwonago.

In Lieu of flowers, please send monetary donations to family or St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church to the Building Fund.
