(nee Berg) Of Jackson, WI. Was Born to Eternal Life on December 28, 2020 at the age of 92, after a fall and complications from the coronavirus. She was preceded in death by the “the love of her life” Robert Frey and sons Keith Bunke and Richard Walker. Dear mother of Kurt (Sue) Bunke. Adored mother-in-law of Noreen Bunke. Loving grandmother of Christopher (Jennifer) Bunke, Chad (Erika) Bunke, and Patrick (fiancée Melissa March) Bunke. Adoring great-grandmother of Kailyn, Mya, Kolton, Shae, Alivia and Miranda. Dear stepmother of Lesley (Mark) Bergemann and their children Scott (Amanda), Jason (Stephanie) and Lisa (Michael). Doris is survived by many friends and other family.  She is also preceded in death by her sister Vernice Dobbratz and brother Carl Berg.

Doris had many jobs in her lifetime. She was most proud of being a professional seamstress at MacNeil and Moore, and for working at the Milwaukee County Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Center for many years.

She enjoyed good food, especially her sister’s duck dinners, and was a wonderful baker.  Her doughnuts will be missed. She loved to dance the night away and watch the peaceful sunsets at the lake with her husband. She was also a great Sheepshead player.

Her zest of life lead her to join many social groups, to name a few, Parents without Partners, Red Hat Society, and her favorite, the Toppers Club. Doris was 5’ 10”. She was delighted in telling and laughing at light hearted jokes.

Her life had sadness, but also good fortune, and much joy. She had wonderful experiences and awesome adventures in her world travels. And Doris shared her compassion, generosity and beautifully written words of wisdom with her family. She was devoted to her three grandsons. They loved her deeply, and will be forever grateful for the guidance and support she gave them during good times and rough times.

We will remember the happy times, the laughing times, and lovingly hold the memories of her in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 7 from 11AM until Funeral Service at 12PM at SCHMIDT & BARTELT FUNERAL HOME; N84 W17937 Menomonee Ave; Menomonee Falls, WI. Burial will follow at St. Stephens Cemetery in Concord, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials in Doris’ name are greatly appreciated to the Milwaukee Sojourner Foundation for Women and Children.
