Dawn Renee (Phillips) Buri, 52, passed away at home on March 10, 2021. Born in Platteville, Wisconsin, on November 27, 1968, Dawn was the daughter of Robert Arthur and Marla Kay (Gorder) Phillips. She attended Iowa-Grant schools and graduated from UW-Platteville with an Elementary Education Degree. It was there that she met her husband, Bruce Buri.
They were married June 13, 1992 in Platteville, Wisconsin and settled in Pella, Iowa for a few years. Feeling the urge to get back to Wisconsin, they moved to the Milwaukee area and have been there since. Dawn taught for 2 years at Heritage Christian Schools before deciding it was time to retire. Since then she has enjoyed part-time work as a 3rd-year standardized patient at Medical College of Wisconsin, and also at Pick’n Save in Menomonee Falls, where they settled in 1999.
Dawn loved traveling and motorcycle riding with Bruce. She enjoyed their cats Mandy and Ebony, scrap-booking, sewing, being a thrifty shopper, planning and organizing get-a-ways with her extended family, and playing games at family gatherings.
Dawn is survived by her husband Bruce; father Robert of New Boston, Illinois; brother Steve (Carrie) of Sun Prairie; brother Scott (Andrea) of Fort Atkinson; mother-in-law Shirley Buri of Monroe; sister-in-law Beth (Paul) Rahn of Madison; brother-in-law Bryan (Sharon) Buri of Browntown; sister-in-law Bonnie Bork of Clinton, Iowa; sister-in-law Becky Buri of Monroe; aunt Clevius Gorder of Middleton; aunt Jean Kramer of Hartland; many nieces and nephews that she shared many laughs and smiles with; and many great friends that helped her enjoy life.
She was preceded in death by her mother in 2005.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lakewood Baptist Church of Pewaukee.
Visitation will be held on Sunday March 14, 2021 at 2:00pm at Lakewood Baptist Church, with a memorial service following at 4:00pm.
