Julia Merritt Fuller was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina on September 1, 1942. Julia is survived by her children, Laura Fuller-Cooper and Dylan Fuller, and grandchildren John Ryan Cooper, Ethan Fuller and Clayton Fuller.
The second of four children, “Judy” is also survived by sisters Jane Guerard and Nancy Ball and brother “Lee” Merritt.
Julia began her higher education at St. Mary’s Junior College in Raleigh, N.C. From there she attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, eventually earning a Master of Arts in Teaching in 1965. Julia was married in 1965 to John Dwight “Jake” Fuller. Julia and Jake later entered the Peace Corps and were in Brazil for several years before returning to the U.S., where they began an alternative high school, Milwaukee Independent School. Later in life Julia volunteered in the Plymouth Church daycare. She loved to vacation to North and South Carolina to visit family and walk on the beach. In her later years, Julia found happiness in being a grandmother, where she was affectionately known as “Gabi”. Her grandchildren always looked forward to enjoying their “Gabi days.” All who knew Julia will remember her extraordinarily kind heart and genuine desire to help others and make the world a better place. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Monday, March 29th, at 1:00 pm; 2618 N Hackett Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53211.
