Gilce R. "Dick" Richardson
July 24, 1923 - September 7, 2021

G.R. Richardson “Dick” passed away peacefully on September 7th 2021 at the age of 98. Dick was born to Gladys (nee Roeder) and Luther Richardson. He was raised in Milwaukee were he went through grade school and graduated from Solomon Juneau High School in 1941. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 wonderful years Henrietta (nee Schaefer), also by a brother Clifford (Ramona) Richardson.

He is survived by his brother Robert Richardson (Paula),  three children Eric (Rebecca) Richardson, Thomas Richardson, and Linda (Darryl )Voss. Four Grandchildren: Keri Koshkarian (Kevin) Jon Richardson (Allison) Kim Cybela (Dan) and Jessica Richardson. He is further survived by 12 great grandchildren: Ethan, Alyssa, Adalee, Luke, Jack, Brooke, Tessa, Dylan, Dean, Calvin, Carson, Violet.

Dick joined the Army Air Corps in December 1942, called to service January 1943, and after extensive training he graduated Bombardier/Observer. During his service he flew 31 missions in a B-24 Liberator while assigned to the 15th Air Force, from a base in Italy. He was discharged as a first Lieutenant in October 1945. He earned a Distinguished Flying Cross medal. Dick and Henrietta met in 1942, he was saved in 1943 and when he returned from Europe they were married in July 1945 After discharge Dick enrolled at Marquette University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BS-EE) in three years. In 1949 he joined IBM where he had a successful 38 year career. Dick enjoyed playing softball until his late 80's, playing in many senior tournaments. He also was an avid water skier with his last ski ride at 88.Dick was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist serving the Lord for over 50 years. In lieu of flowers donations to Calvary Baptist Church or Honor Flight Wisconsin.

A Visitation and service will be held at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home for Dick on Wednesday September 15th beginning at 10:00am until the time of service at 12:00. A procession to Sunnyside cemetery with graveside prayers and Military Honors to conclude services will follow.
