Adam Vincent Cibik
June 28, 1978 - September 3, 2021

Adam passed away on September 2, 2021 at 43 years of age from natural causes.  He was the loving son of John Mead and Constance Joanne (nee LaMalfa) Cibik and treasured brother of Kristin Anne (Paul) Occhetti.  Also survived by his nephews and niece, Charles, Oliver and Nola Occhetti, as well as many loving friends and family.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dr. Joachim and Constance LaMalfa and Vincent Cibik and Helen (nee Cibik) Junkans.

Adam was known for his genuine smile, sarcastic wit and selfless personality.  Starting from a very young age, Adam’s smile and true gentleman nature won him attention stemming from Employee of the Year awards to national modeling and acting jobs.  He attended the University School of Milwaukee for high school before earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in both Finance and Real Estate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2002.  In 2007, Adam earned a Master of Business Administration in Real Estate Finances and Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  Adam remained active with his alma mater, being an Advisory Board member of the Applied Real Estate Investment Track program (AREIT) with the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He also acted as a mentor to many aspiring real estate investment professionals at UW and was an active member of the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association, the Pension Real Estate Association, International Investment Affinity Group and the Urban Land Institute.

Adam’s passion for real estate investment and entrepreneurship brought him all over the country and globe.  Early in his career, Adam worked as a Senior Analyst at various firms including CBRE in Philadelphia, Builder’s Bank in Chicago, and JPMorgan in Frankfurt, Germany.  From 2008 to 2012, Adam was an associate in the International Real Estate Investment group of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) in both Toronto and London, where he expanded CPPIB’s European investment portfolio into shopping centers, office buildings and logistic parks across the UK, Germany, Turkey and the Far-East.  After living abroad for several years, Adam was ready to bring his talents back stateside and worked in Austin, Texas as a portfolio manager for the Employees Retirement System of Texas.  In that position, Adam was responsible for sourcing and managing real estate fund investments and direct co-investments across the US, Europe, Asia and Emerging Markets and played an instrumental role in a 5-person team that built a $1.5 billion investment portfolio in less than 36 months.

After accruing an affinity for the Austin, Texas real estate market, Adam was ready to test his skills by leaving the corporate real estate world and starting his own real estate private equity firms.  In 2018, he co-founded Nordic Realty Partners LLC in Austin, Texas where he sourced and managed direct real estate investments in Austin, Chicago, and Racine, WI.  In 2020, he co-founded Workspace Capital Partners LLC, where he acted as Managing Partner and was directly responsible for sourcing and financing asset and property management for Austin, Texas real estate investments.  Most recently, Adam founded Gamehendge Properties LLC in Austin, Texas.

Adam spent his very little free time enjoying live music with his family and friends and collecting rare sports cards, albums, digital audio-recording, fine artwork, along with enjoying music at home as a passionate audiophile.  He loved the outdoors and would never hesitate to leave his designer shoes at home to go skiing with his friends or catch a shady music festival with his father.  He always gave spare change to the homeless, over-tipped the wait staff, and would drop any plans he had to help family or a friend in need.  Adam recently took up paddle boarding on the Milwaukee River and motorcycle riding on the open roads (when he wasn’t driving the countryside in his sports car).  He was as mysterious as he was loyal, always having a big surprise in the works, and he could have won awards for his creativity in birthday and Christmas gift giving.  But above all, he loved his family more than anything.  His absence on this Earth will leave a trench that can never be filled, but Heaven just got a little more fun for all who are there.  He will be their Ambassador Angel.
