Kurt Ronald Smith was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 20, 1963. He was born to Eternal Life on November 27, 2021, passing peacefully in his home in Slinger, Wisconsin.
Kurt grew up in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin where he enjoyed fishing, golfing, minibiking, bowling, playing softball, attending Bucks games, and vacationing with his family.
In 1984, Kurt met the love of his life, Kim Schneider, his “Kimpie”. They met at work and became best friends instantly spending every minute of every day together - whether it be at work, school or going out. He loved his wife Kim with everything he had and devoted his life to building their dreams into reality. Together they would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this coming May.
Kurt was a devoted family man. In 1994, Kurt and Kim welcomed their first child, Taylor (“Boo”), and completed their family with the birth of their son Nathan (“Naffie”) in 1998. Kurt was a wonderful father to his children, always involved and engaged in all aspects of their lives. Kurt talked so highly of his family. His constant praise and encouragement truly helped his children thrive. He constantly shared that he was just “so proud!”
Family was extremely important to Kurt as he was very close with his extended family, from his mom and dad—Mary & Ron—to his four siblings—Laura, Susan, Val, and John—to his cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. To most of the family he was known as “Unka-Bunk” because he was such a beloved uncle.
Kurt was an incredibly dedicated worker for Par Technologies. During his 24 years with the company, Kurt built many meaningful relationships and took pride in supporting the needs of his staff and customers.
In his free time, Kurt enjoyed the simple things in life: sunsets by the lake, morning coffee with the paper, weekends on the patio, relaxing by the fireplace with the kitties, and enjoying a cold beer with his weekly fish fry.
Many agree Kurt Smith was Willie Nelson’s number one fan. He loved all the Highwaymen— Johnny, Kris, and Waylon, but Willie was his favorite. He went to countless Willie Nelson concerts with his wife Kim, because Kurt was the kind of fan everyone dreams of having: absolutely devoted and enthusiastic. He rooted for the teams he loved—“Go Brew! Go Pack! Go Bucks!” He rooted for his favorite golfer—“Go Phil!” And most importantly Kurt rooted for what was to come —“Happy Days!”
Kurt is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Mary Smith, as well as his sister and fearless leader, Laura Grosenick. Additionally, Kurt is now reunited with beloved cousins, Bill Moser and Jon Eric Kreuser; Aunt Sue and Uncle Dick Moser; and his dear Grandma Moravec.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Kim Smith, and his children, Taylor (Brian) Dassow & Nathan (Brittany Diaz) Smith. He is also survived by his siblings Susan (Jim) Pagel, Valerie Unger, John (Sheri) Smith. Kurt is further survived by his adored nieces and nephews, aunt, uncle, cousins, and in-laws.
Perhaps Willie Nelson had said it best: “Life is just a sad sad song, But love is bigger than us all, The end is not the end at all.”
