Steve was born in February of 1956, graduating from DeForest high school in 1974.  From an early age Steve showed he was a talented tradesman. He studied and worked in auto body mechanics while also working for his uncle Donald building houses. Steve began his dream career as a volunteer firefighter in DeForest, Wisconsin.  After graduating from MATC in Fire Science, he applied and was accepted into the Fire Academy in Milwaukee.  While attending the academy he also applied himself by doing Fire Inspection for Cedarburg. Steve spent 24 years with the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD), rising to the level of Lieutenant. He was commander of the Milwaukee Fire Department Honor Guard and sat on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial. Steve retired from MFD in 2009 but his interests in Hazardous Materials and Fire Investigation kept him from truly retiring.  He went to work for Donan Engineering as a Fire Investigator.  After a few years, he ventured out on his own, working mostly with his friend, Henry, on accident reconstruction.  While serving on the fire department, Steve began trap shooting with the Fire/Police league.  He enjoyed it so much that after retiring, he continued with the league and took up trap coaching which he did fondly for 11 years.  Steve was active in his Church congregation and in his neighborhood.  He frequently lent a helping hand with shoveling, loaning tools, block party special guests or moving garbage carts.  He adored his daughters and attended all their extracurricular events.  Steve will be missed.
