Jason Edward Sprague
May 3, 1971 - May 6, 2022

Jason Edward Sprague a.k.a. "Buddy," "Poor Dase," "Uncle J," "#29" Big man with a big heart was born May 3, 1971, to Jesse Edward and Susan Emily (Voss) Sprague in Madison, WI. He left us far too soon, on May 6, 2022, when he passed peacefully in his sleep. We are all devastated but take great comfort in knowing Jason is happy and having a whole lot of fun like he always did.

Jason graduated from Madison West High School in 1989, where he played basketball and baseball, as well as one season in cross country we will never forget. He was an all-conference baseball player and continued his career for a year at UW-Stout, followed by multiple seasons playing for Dizon’s, B&G, Pine Bluff, The Village Idiots and more.

Jason met Jennifer Patricia Nemoir in 1991 when they were living across the street from each other and became fast friends during various Chandler Street shenanigans. They married on June 17, 2000. In 2004 and 2007 they welcomed Ethan Edward and Isabelle Alice and life got fun! The family moved to Wauwatosa in 2007. Jason devoted his free time to Ethan and Isabelle and the Wauwatosa community, coaching various youth sports teams for many seasons – even those he had no right to (volleyball, anyone?). He organized the school variety show for several years and served on the Jefferson Elementary School PTA Board.

Also in 2007, Jason began a 15-year career with Super Sky Products Enterprises as a project manager. Jason loved his work family, and we are grateful for their friendships and support.

Jason’s passions included family, friends, sports, music, games and his own birthdays. Fittingly, he was able to celebrate his 51st with two of his favorite people and a Brewers win. If you were playing trivia, you wanted Jason on your team.

Jason is survived by and will be profoundly missed by Jenny Sprague, their children Ethan and Isabelle Sprague, his adoring mother Susan, sister Sarah (Andy) Napgezek, sister Christine (Brad) Moldenhauer and five nephews he treated like his own children: Jack, Gabe and Jesse Napgezek; William and George Moldenhauer. Jason is further survived by his stepmother Mary Sprague, stepsister Melissa Schlegel and stepbrother Mac (Katie) Vesperman and their children Fischer and Macie Schlegel and Anabelle and Mac Vesperman. Jason was preceded in death by his father Jesse (2006), grandparents Alice Sprague (1986), Merlin Voss (2014) and Eleanor Himsel (2019).

Jason had a big family and countless friends, and he prized those relationships. His aunts and uncles and cousins were a huge force in his life and he stayed connected with them through fantasy leagues, ball teams, Badger and Brewer outings, Words With Friends and texts at all hours. If you were in his life, you felt his immense love. We will miss him and his big heart!

Please join us as we say goodbye and celebrate the love he brought to this world and to all his people. A visitation will be held from Noon to 3 pm on Tuesday, May 17 at Schmidt and Bartelt in Wauwatosa with memorial service to follow at 3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jason Sprague Memorial Education Fund
