Doug Burmeister, age 64, of Germantown, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 following a short but courageous battle with cancer.

Doug is survived by his loving daughter, Ashley (Matt) Detloff, his 3-month-old grandson, Westin, his brother, Bob (Lisa) Burmeister, and his cherished nephew and niece, Bobby and Kristina Burmeister. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Doug was born February 19, 1958, to Richard and Doris (Raasch) Burmeister in Wisconsin Rapids where he grew up and competed in basketball, golf, and baseball throughout his high school years. Following high school, he graduated in 1980 from UW-Whitewater with a bachelor's degree in Finance. In May, 1988 he began what would become a 33-year career with FIS Global that afforded him the opportunity to travel the country and meet new and interesting people as a Conversions Manager. He remained dedicated to his career and his co-workers until his very last moments.

Doug will be remembered for his obsession with ALL sports with emphasis on Wisconsin sports. He was a decades-long Green Bay Packer season ticket holder and very rarely missed a game. He has attended a countless number of sporting events including a World Series, Brewers games, Kentucky Derby, Frozen Four, NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament, PGA Tournament, and even Super Bowl XXXI where the Packers defeated the Patriots. When he wasn’t watching sports, he would spend his time outside in his yard, walking/hiking, or biking. He also enjoyed country music and summer music festivals. Most importantly, he enjoyed doing all of these things with his closest friends and family.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 22nd, 2022 at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
