Sylvester F. Lewandowski

Of Mukwonago, passed away on June 1, 2022 at the age of 93.  He was born October 21, 1928 in Poniatowski, WI to Frank and Mary (nee Rakowski).  At an early age, the family moved to Milwaukee.

Syl served in the U.S. Navy from December 1945 to October 1947.  He re-enlisted April 1952 to April 1953.  On April 24, 1954 he married Patricia Ulma in Milwaukee.  The family moved to Mukwonago in 1976.

Syl was a very talented woodworker, filling his home and the homes of his children with many handcrafted items.  He was an avid gardener, and he loved spending time with his 6 grandchildren. 

Syl is survived by his wife Pat, children Mike (Dawn), Steve, Paul (Joyce) and Margaret (Curt) Chase.  Grandchildren Joe (Jess) Lewandowski, Rachel (Sean) Kelly, Abby (Joe) Higgins, Emma Lewandowski, Jack Chase and Samantha Chase.  Sister Jane Kovnesky, Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law David and Judy Ulma and lifelong friend, Herb Koepsel.  Syl was preceded in death by his sister, Agnes Pizzala.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (S89 W22650 Milwaukee Ave. Big Bend) from 10 AM until 11:45 AM.  The Funeral Mass will follow at 12 NOON.  Syl will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove with full Military Honors on July 13 at 1:00 PM.

The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses and hospice staff at the Zablocki VA Medical Center for their care and compassion.
