On Monday, August 1st, 2022, Dr. Roger Paul Johnson, 82, of Wauwatosa, went home to be with the Lord. He passed away peacefully at home with family at his bedside. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, of 59 years, four children: Paul, Susan (Tom) Haarmann, Christine and David, and five grandchildren Madison, Kylie, John, Daniel, and Chloe. He is preceded in death by his parents Emery and Wanda Johnson, and siblings Lois Allen, Artis Sherman, and Dale Johnson. 

Roger graduated from Rufus King High School in 1958. He received a B.S. from UW-Milwaukee, and then went on and earned  M.S. and M.D. degrees from Marquette University-Medical College of Wisconsin. He served 6 years in the National Guard.  He was an orthopedic surgeon for 47 years and did research on the mechanics and fractures of the wrist that is now used as the world-wide standard.  In addition to publishing numerous medical articles and papers he was a beloved professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin for many years. 

Known for his voracious love of life, Roger pursued many hobbies, among them golfing, playing the guitar, song mixing and recording.  His love for people (he never met a stranger) and family ran deep, and he made sure that those who knew him felt that.  He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Visitation will be held at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue Wauwatosa, on Friday, Aug 5, 2022 from 10am-12pm, service to follow.  Interment at Wisconsin Memorial Park afterwards.
