Born in Hennipen County, Minnesota, the first of four children of Luella and Hollis Jackson.

Virginia found peace and joined the family she so dearly missed on November 14, 2022, age 95 years. Beloved wife for 65.5 years of the late Joseph F. Werner who passed away May 20th, 2013.

Dear mother of Virginia (the late Gerald) Schmitz, Joseph (Diane) Werner, and Mary (Don) Gellendin. Loving grandma of Eric (Sara) Schmitz, Tracy (Lenny Spingola) Werner, Joe (Stacy) Werner, Dan and Kevin Gellendin and the late Chris Schmitz. Proud great-grandma of Aiden, Leah, Jenna, Madison, Maxwell, Jacob, Leonardo, Landon and Lexi. Further survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Joe, she was preceded in death by her parents, Luella and Hollis Jackson, her sister Beverly Altinger and her brother Dale Jackson.

Virginia was a loving caring person attending to the needs of her direct and distant family, her parents and sister, as well as other non-family members. She will be respectfully remembered for her sharp tongue which her family pondered on.

Virginia enjoyed bowling, playing sheepshead or poker with whomever she could convince to play, as well as UNO, Sequence and BINGO. She loved gardening and her plants. She was very frugal and took pride in being able to save money every month and meeting her budget needs. She supported her late husband Joe's hobby of raising homing pigeons for racing for 35+ years. She also participated in the women's powder-puff pigeon races bringing home her own trophies.

The family would like to thank Ellen's Home South and Horizon Home Care and Hospice for the increased quality of life and attentive care they provided the last 5 months of Virginia's life. Special thanks also to the Staff of Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Services for their direction and assisting the family.

Visitation for Virginia will be held Thursday November 29 at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
