Doreen K. Carmody, 84, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022.

Doreen was born September 3, 1938 to Reba and Herman Kotzen in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania she began her teaching career. While working at Northeast High School in Philadelphia, she completed her master’s degree at Temple University where she met her future husband, Daniel Carmody. Together they moved back to Daniel’s hometown of Jacksonport, Wisconsin. Soon after, Doreen became employed by the School District of Sevastopol where she enjoyed a 40-year career primarily as a high school Physics and Chemistry teacher.

A staple in the Sevastopol community, she was not only a gifted teacher, but embraced all aspects of student life while mentoring generations. “Mrs. Carmody” was known for her quick wit and high standards. Her door was always open for colleagues and students alike. She was truly an inspiration to all the lives she touched. She retired in 2006.

She was an adoring mother to her three children and ten grandchildren. During her retirement she devoted as much time as possible to her family.

Doreen was preceded in death by her parents Reba and Herman Kotzen, her brother Stephen Kotzen and her husband, Daniel F. Carmody.

She is survived by her children, Brett (Yael) Rhode, Philadelphia; David (Helaine) Rhode, New York; and Jenny Stephenson (Anitra Carter), Wauwatosa and her grandchildren, Jordan, Taylor, Leah, Daniel, Tyler, Casey, Rebecca, Isabel, Lily, and Jett.
