John Charles Waldron
October 9, 1934 - January 23, 2023

John Charles Waldron, age 88, father, son, brother, and mighty man of God, was called home to be with the Lord Monday, January 23, 2023, at his home in Sussex, WI.

John was born October 9, 1934, in Milwaukee, WI to the late Frank and Louise (nee Beyer) Waldron. He married Elizabeth (nee Voeltz) Waldron on January 5, 1957.  Their marriage of over 66 years was an inspiration to their family and friends.  They were inseparable, loving each other without condition, always being a trusted companion, and supporting the other to become the best version of themselves.  Family and Christ was John’s highest priorities. He was a loving husband to Elizabeth, supportive father to his six children, brother, and proud grandfather. He never missed a church service, bible study with his men’s group, Packer games, or a Kids from Wisconsin performance. John also enjoyed car shows, reading, fixing small engines, or simply doing for others (his hands were rarely still) through his servant heart.

From an early age, John showed an incredible aptitude for all things mechanical.  One of his first major endeavors at 16 years of age was replacing an engine in his first car (rising to his parent’s challenge “if you can get it running, you can drive it).  He graduated from Milwaukee’s Boys Tech, and then joined the Army.  The military took advantage of John’s talent, making him a lead Helicopter technician at Fort Riley Kansas.  He would always recall “there’s nothing quite like flying in one of those things”.  Returning to Milwaukee, he joined the Oster Corporation.  Several years later he accepted a position at Banner Welder.  For the next 52 years he would rise through the ranks, from a Mechanical Engineer to the president of the company, taking the company through decades of technology and innovation. John retired in 2011 although remained an active member on their board of directors.  He continued to be a help to others, fixing cars, repairing small engineers, and electrician and plumber to his children.  There was literally nothing that John could not fix.

His life was a living example the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."  John had a lifelong devotion to Christ and the church.  He spent many hours in prayer and reflection, with the goal of becoming an example of the living word.  He lived his life to serve Christ and the people in his life.  Never preaching without an invitation, but rather expressing his caring compassion to those that needed to be lifted by the holy word.  His legacy will carry on forever reminding us we choose to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.

John was known as a hero to his six children.  Dad could fix anything from broken hearts to broken engines. He spent many a day fixing and driving the local band bus, attending concerts, drum corps shows, and getting all his kids to music lessons or practices. After a long workday, balls would be tossed, merit badges and school projects would be worked on, and of course trips for ice-cream cones would end many a day.

John is survived by his wife, Elizabeth and children Michael Waldron, Nancy Waldron-Brook, Tina (Scott) Weiss, Joseph (Jane) Waldron, Angela Waldron and John Waldron. Grandchildren Erin Grossi, Sam Weiss, Natasha Waldron, Matthew Weiss, Emily Dalske, Audrey Waldron and Andrew Waldron.  Great grandchildren include Max and Alice Grossi along with Edin Kinnaman.

John is also survived by five siblings: Nancy Abler, Patricia Zinke, Kathy Waldron, Frank (Maryann) Waldron and Virginia Waldron.

John was preceded by his parents, his brother David, nephew David Waldron, sisters-in-law Janet Waldron and Barbara Tomasino and her husband Tony, as well as his brothers-in-law Frank Abler and Roger Zinke.
