Karie A. Albrecht
August 17, 1968 - February 21, 2023

Karie Ann Albrecht, age 54, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by loved ones, on February 21, 2023.

On August 17, 1968, Karie was born to Melody Ciardo and William Hanson in Milwaukee, WI.  She graduated from Waterford Union High School in 1986.  Karie had a successful career that she was passionate about with the Painters and Allied Trades District Council No. 7.  On October 7, 2017, she married the love of her life, Garrett Albrecht.

Karie is survived by her husband, Garrett Albrecht, 2 children, Shane (Victoria Dalton) Peckham, Erik (Nellie McGonigle) Peckham, and 2 stepchildren from her marriage to Garrett, Hunter and Hailey Albrecht.  She was overjoyed for the upcoming arrival of her first grandchild, Weston, from Shane and Victoria. She is also survived by her father, William Hanson, and her siblings, Thomas (Wendy) Hanson, Daniel (Angela) Hanson, Anthony (Katie) Ciardo, Nicole (Daniel) Duldulao and Angela (Michael) Sossaman. She is further survived by 15 nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.  She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Melody and Anthony Ciardo.

Karie was such a bright light in this world.  Her uniqueness made her stand out and be comparable to none. She had a way about her that could only be described as “That’s Karie”, and anyone that knew her knows exactly what that means.  If you stop and listen for her voice in your head, you’ll hear her clear as day saying things like “Dude” or “I knoowwww” and “Ok, google…”.  Her laugh was infectious.

In recent years Karie’s hobby of crafting grew into her passion as she took her handmade items to the road and became a vendor at craft fairs. Karie and Garrett spent a lot of time together packing and preparing so she could be found on the weekends in her delicately decorated tent named, “Re-Creations”.

At the center of her life was the most important thing to her, her family. She had immense pride in her sons and all who knew her could see that daily.  Her day-to-day life was spent with Garrett taking pride in decorating their home and working in her gardens in the yard.  Her recipe for her deviled eggs is highly sought out and her Christmas cookie extravaganza will be missed.  She made every effort to attend all of the family events as she made sure everyone knew how important they were to her.

When Karie and Garrett met, it was love at first sight.  She had finally found the love of her life.  They built a life together which took on a new meaning as they blended their families together.  Being together opened a new door for her, her love of traveling.  Garrett and Karie spent many vacations exploring and living their best life.  But of all their travels, their best adventure was the life they created together.

Karie will be greatly missed by all of her beloved family and friends. She would want us to live our life remembering “it’s not the destination, it’s the journey”.
