Debra Jane Schoenfeldt
October 29, 1966 - April 14, 2023

Debra Jane Schoenfeldt, on Friday, April 14th, 2023, age 56, entered the Kingdom of her Lord.

She was born in Madison, Wisconsin, October 29th, 1966, the daughter of Bryan and Jane (Walker) Schwark.

In June of 1967, she moved with her parents to Platteville, Wisconsin. She graduated valedictorian from Platteville High School in 1984. In high school, she participated in gymnastics, swimming, became an editor of the school paper, and was homecoming queen.

Debra attended University of Wisconsin-Platteville and received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During her college years, she was a Rangerette, a manager of Rountree Hall Apartments in Platteville, President of the UW-Platteville Chapter of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.

She also worked for her parents at arts and craft shows (including Summerfest), their gift shops at the “House on the Rock”, and Earth’s Treasures in Galena, Illinois. Upon graduation, she was employed as a Table Top Engineer for Rexnord Corporation in Milwaukee from 1989 to 2000.

In 1993, Debra married Mark A. Schoenfeldt at Fox Point Lutheran Church. She gave birth to two children, Emily and Matthew, who she dearly loved. Also important to Deb were concerts, plays, her family and friends, cultural events, children’s activities, all holidays, travel, art fairs and festivals, collecting art, excellent restaurants, her home in Whitefish Bay, and her love of Milwaukee.

Her artistic talents were used to collect antique beads to make jewelry that she sold at various shows. Debra co-chaired the 2016 Whitefish Bay School District’s Bay Ball Fundraiser at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee. She was a breast cancer survivor and was involved in a number of church and school activities.

Friends and relatives remember Deb for her beauty, wit, radiant personality, and colorful wardrobe. She had an empathetic nature that drew everybody towards her. The world has lost someone so unique, gifted, genuine, who was loved beyond measure by all. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband Mark, daughter Emily, son Matthew, and parents Jane and Bryan Schwark, sister Suzanne (Russ) Dudan, brother Daniel (Penny) Schwark, her nephew and godchild Maxwell Dudan and niece, Madeline Dudan, Emily’s special friend Noah Nichter, sister-in-law Lynne (Mike) Holbus, brother-in-law David (Amy) Schoenfeldt, nieces Elizabeth, Annie, Sarah, and Caroline. Also survived by many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Jerry and Florence Schoenfeldt. Debra was a godparent to Luke Spelman.

Debra was known for her plentiful hugs – everybody got one or two!

Her funeral services will be held at Fox Point Lutheran Church, 7510 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Fox Point, WI 53217 on Sunday, April 30th. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The celebration of life church service will be held at 4:00 p.m. and luncheon following the service.
